Job Description

Leads the development of a High Performing Organization through active demonstration of the county’s Pillars of Performance, encouraging leadership and empowerment at all levels of the organization; dedicates QII activities for self and staff; actively mentors, coaches and collaborates with employees to enhance the county mission and vision keeping in mind the common goal of leaving our community better than we found it.

 

Travel to various early childhood and out of school time programs throughout Johnson County to provide quality childcare and educational opportunities.  Act as Lead Teacher or Program Director as needed to meet required staffing needs.  Ensure the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child.  Carry out daily lessons and maintain Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements for both staff and children.   Responsible for being a good communicator to all children, parents, administration, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service.  Enroll and attend 15 hours of off-site in-service annually.  Learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures.

 

Make purchases within prescribed program budget.  Develops and maintains expertise in child and youth program trends and issues by attending professional conferences and serving on professional committees to provide leadership in the early childhood and/or school age program community.

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 6 - 8 hour shifts between 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, 30 - 35 hours per week (additional hours may be necessary). This is a permanent year-round position with Benefits. 

 

Location:  6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, KS  66202 (daily location will vary)

Job Requirements

 

Required – High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of fifteen credit hours in Education Recreation, or Early Childhood Education

 

Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in the following field(s) of study:  Education, Human Development, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, Child Psychology, or relevant field.

 

Relevant experience may be substituted for education.

 

Professional Experience:


Required – 1 year experience in school age and/or early childhood setting.

Microsoft Office experience, Business writing and report writing skills, excellent oral communication, human relations/Interpersonal skills.

Minimum age is 21 years of age.

 

Additional Skills and Requirements:


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices. Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision. Leadership and supervisory skills.
Must successfully pass a driving, education, and criminal background check.
