Job Description

  • Must enjoy and knowledge of nature and the outdoors and a strong desire to help young children learn about the world and the environment.
  • Energetic and comfortable spending extended periods of time outdoors, in all seasons and in all kinds of safe weather conditions.
  • Comfortable engaging in nature, getting dirty and being with and/or near all types of animals (insects, reptiles, small mammals, birds, etc.).
  • Other job duties are to provide a safe, stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning environment for children 3-5 years of age and to give children the opportunity to develop social-emotional, language, intellectual and physical skills.  
  • Hours and Days: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., flexible morning and afternoon shifts available.
  • Locations: Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, KS 66218 and Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse 5010 W. 95th St., Prairie Village, KS 66207
  • Salary:  $16.00 per hour.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year experience with children 3-6 years of age in a licensed child care setting.
  • Must meet criteria stated by Kansas Department of Health and Environment with twelve hours of observation required.  All paid by the Employer.                           

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department
