Job Description

Johnson County Parks & Recreation District (JCPRD) is looking for a personable and dependable applicant to join our team as a Softball Official at the Mid-America Sports Complex. 

  • Work hours are available Sunday - Thursday, 4-20 hours per week with a flexible work schedule.
  • Earn $24.00 per game (55-minute games). 
  • We facilitate Men's Rec, Competitive, Co-Ed Rec and Co-Ed Competitive. 
  • We supply umpire shirts.
  • We are looking for a team players and individuals as determined and excited as we are to build an active, social, athletic, and fun environment in Johnson County.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum age is 21 years old.
  • Working knowledge of the game of Softball or willing to learn.
  • Evening availability (Sunday – Thursday)
  • Good communication skills - must be personable yet comfortable having authority.
  • Must be Reliable and Punctual.
  • Previous officiating or playing experience preferred, but not required.

Job Overview:

  • Arrive early to athletic venue (15 minutes before game time).
  • Officiate games to ensure that game rules are observed.
  • Record scores.
  • Provide the best environment and experience possible for all our patrons.
  • Proudly represent JCPRD as a highly visible and accessible member of our team.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
