Job Description

  • Greeting participants and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Responsible for the preparation of lessons plans, instructing, and evaluating class participants.
  • Lead group of participants 50 and over with a maximum number of 12 participants.
  • Arrive on time and prepare needed equipment.
  • Track attendance and communicate program updates to participants.
  • Respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as needed.
  • Communicate with Recreation Coordinator weekly on class needs.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have current CPR.
  • Could be a year-round position. Criminal History Background Check required.
  • Instructors are responsible for providing their lesson plans, tracking class attendance, starting/ending class on time and turning in paperwork/timecard in a timely manner.
  • Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision.
  • Have a positive attitude and show professionalism in communications.
  • Experience working with older adults, confident managing multiple participants at a time, and the ability to create a fun environment.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
