Job Description

  • Greeting participants and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Responsible for the preparation of lessons plans, instructing, and evaluating class participants.
  • Lead tennis lessons for varying ages with a maximum number of 12 participants
  • Arrive on time, prepare needed equipment and communicate weather related cancellations.
  • Track attendance and communicate program updates to participants.
  • Respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as needed.

This is a part-time, seasonal position for the months of May – September. Class schedule is set in advance with participant registration. Classes will run when the minimum number of participants are met. Course offerings include beginner lessons, youth lessons and camp. Compensation is based on experience and certifications.

 

Location: Harmon Park in Prairie Village and R Park in Roeland Park.

 

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.  

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17
  • High school varsity or college level tennis experience. 
  • Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision.
  • Ability to program/organize daily class curriculum.
  • Have a positive attitude and show professionalism in communications.
  • Experience working with all ages, confident managing multiple participants at a time, and the ability to create a fun environment.
  • Criminal History Background Check required.

 Preferred Job Requirements:

Strong communication and customer service skills. Prior tennis and teaching experience.

 

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

Exposure to a variety of weather conditions working outside.

 

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
