Job Description

Position will report to Kill Creek Park, but work will take place in all Northwest Region parks including Kill Creek Park, Kill Creek Streamway, Lexington Lake Park, Cedar Niles Park, and Sunflower Nature Park.

Responsibilities include all aspect of natural resource management in the Northwest Region of JCPRD. Including, but not limited to, chemical and mechanical control of noxious weeds, tree removal, prescribed fire, equipment maintenance, and other general natural resource tasks as assigned. Workers may assist with general park maintenance and operations as needed and assigned. 

May operate equipment such as tractors, loaders, UTVs, ATVs, trucks, and trailers as trained, assigned, and licensed.

Pay starts at $16.00hr / 40hrs week up to 990 Hours in season.

Hours are generally 07:00-15:30 during the year but may switch to 06:00-14:30 during the summer 

Preference will be given to individuals pursuing or have recently completed a degree in conservation, ecology, environmental studies, or related field. Position may be eligible for internship credit. 

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Applicants considered for this position should have an interest in natural resource management with preference given to individuals with advanced course work in the field.
  • All applicants shall possess valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • All applicants shall sign an agreement to a driving history and criminal background check. 

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
