Job Description

  • Provide administrative support to the Roeland Park 50 Plus Coordinator.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing programs and events for all ages. Organize volunteers, information, and materials to conduct programs as requested by the coordinator.
  • Complete program registrations, manage one-on-one program scheduling, input program changes, and communicate pertinent information to appropriate staff and enrolled patrons.
  • Complete proofing and data entry for all classes, programs, and events on multiple platforms; such as, registration software, department website, and print publications.
  • Assist with and in some cases lead marketing efforts to promote programs through a variety of avenues, including flyers, JCPRD’s 50 Plus Facebook page, promotional mailings, county publications and the 50 Plus e-Newsletter.
  • Complete monthly reporting; such as, tracking of program numbers, input of budget numbers for multiple program areas, and volunteer hours.
  • Work closely with the Roeland Park Community Center Assistant to provide support and coverage for the centers Welcome Desk.
  • Occasionally provide coverage or event assistance at other 50 Plus Department offices or with department daytrips, social outings, and nature walks which may require driving a 14-passenger mini-bus. 

 

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of customer service and clerical/administrative work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly and engaging demeanor with patrons.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience with serving older adults.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a team.
  • Time management skills including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail in spreadsheets, recreation software, proofing, schedules, and tasks.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with district staff and community partners.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Lifting up to 25lbs.
  • All department staff may be required to assist in other program areas which may require driving a 14-passenger transportation vehicle.
  • Assisting with outdoor camps and/or programs exposing them to hot or cold temperatures.
