JCPRD is seeking an assistant sewing instructor who’s ready to share their passion of sewing with participants! This position will provide support for our lead instructor on multiple basic level sewing projects for groups who are interested about learning to sew. Assistant instructor will be responsible for helping lead instructor with administering basic sewing lessons, assist students with projects, troubleshooting sewing machines and/or equipment. Offers of employment will be conditional upon passing all appropriate screenings (driver’s license, physical, and criminal background check).

Professional Experience:  2-5 Years of experience sewing personally or commercially. Prefer 1-2 years of child supervision experience.

Required Skills:

-Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.

-Knowledge of age-appropriate activities for youth, ages 8-14 years old.

- Ability to always respect confidentiality.

-Ability to provide instruction and demonstration of basic stitching, use of basic patterns for bags, pillowcases, quilting, cushion covers and clothing items, basic machine use, and basic machine maintenance along with trouble shooting.

-Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity, and patience.

-Ensure safe and appropriate use of all equipment. 

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.

 Preferred Job Requirements:

-Experience in assisting and/or teaching small groups is desired.
