Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Skill Development: Teach and refine cheerleading techniques, including tumbling, jumps, and choreography, to ensure team members perform safely and confidently.
  • Safety and Injury Prevention: Ensure proper warm-ups, use of safety equipment, and adherence to guidelines to minimize the risk of injuries during practice and performances.
  • Team Building: Foster a positive, inclusive team culture by encouraging collaboration, mutual respect, and effective communication among athletes.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and prepare the team for performing, ensuring routines are polished and the team is ready.
  • Mentorship and Support: Serve as a role model and mentor by providing emotional support, motivation, and guidance to help team members grow both on and off the mat.

JCPRD is seeking a cheer camp instructor who’s ready to share their passion of cheer with participants! This position will create and lead a cheer camp that includes games, choreographed routines/cheers, crafts and more for camp participants. Offers of employment will be conditional upon passing all appropriate screenings (driver’s license, physical, and criminal background check).

Days/Hours: Cheer camps are offered Monday - Thursday, 12PM- 4PM. Scheduled hours will vary based on need. Additional hours may be available if interested.

 

Pay scale: $20-30 per hour, based on qualifications. 

 

Job Requirements

Professional Experience:  

-2-5 Years of experience working/supervising with children.

 

Required Skills:

-Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.

-Knowledge of age-appropriate activities for youth, ages 8-14 years old.

- Ability to always respect confidentiality.

-Ability to provide instruction and demonstration of cheer skills, chants and dances.

-Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity, and patience.

-Ensure safe and appropriate use of all equipment.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.

 

Preferred Job Requirements:

-Experience in assisting and/or teaching small groups is desired.

-2-5 Years of coaching youth.

 

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

Physical strength requirements: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally throughout the shift.

Motion and Range of Movement: Frequent walking, running, jumping, and crouching as part of practice and performance coaching. Repetitive motions for demonstrating routines and movements.

Vision and hearing: this camp will be loud at times with repetitive noises and sounds.

Safety and Demonstration: Ability to physically demonstrate proper techniques for stunts and routines. Awareness and ability to prevent and address injuries.

Leadership Physicality: Strong voice and presence for rallying teams and directing large groups. Quick responsiveness to emergencies or performance changes.
