Job Description

  • Greeting participants and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Responsible for the preparation of lesson plans, music and instructing lessons.
  • Arrive on time and prepare needed equipment. 
  • Track attendance and communicate program updates to participants.
  • Teach a variety of dance styles to adults that are 50 years and older. This includes ballroom, swing, tap, salsa, line dance, ballet, jazz, hula, dance therapy and belly dancing. Primarily beginner lessons.
  • Locations: Roeland Park Community Center

Job Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • This is a year-round position.
  • Criminal History Background Check required.
  • Instructors are responsible for providing their own class materials.
  • Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision.
  • Have a positive attitude and show professionalism in communications.
  • Experience working with older adults, confident managing multiple participants at a time, and the ability to create a fun environment.
  • Monday – Friday daytime or evening availability.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills. 
  • Experience teaching dance and working with older adults.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
