Job Description

The Recreation Activities Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the coordinators planning, organizing, and executing special events and activities within the District. This position involves working closely with the recreation coordinators and other team members to create memorable experiences for our community members.

 

Responsibilities Include and not limited to:

  • Assists the NCF Sports Coordinator in planning and coordinating recreation programming for Sports and Facilities South department.
  • Registers program participants over the phone or in person.
  • Assists in checking in program participants.
  • Answer direct phone calls at New Century Fieldhouse.
  • Greets participants, answers questions, and provides information about current and upcoming events and program opportunities.
  • Help to facilitate the best possible experience for the participants of our recreation leagues.
  • Assists in the coordination of volunteer coaches.
  • Maintains a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all participants.

 Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  (in person, over the phone, and through email)

Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing event dynamics.

Experience with word and excel.

Basic knowledge of recreational sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer)

Ability to maintain professional work-related practices including safety, alertness, dependability, responsibility, initiative, good judgment, cleanliness, and a willingness to serve others.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Criminal background check required.

 

Preferred Job Requirements:

Strong communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of sports and recreational programming. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and good organizational skills. 

 

Education/Experience Substitutions:

  Yes.              Experience may be substituted for degree.

  

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Sensory abilities, including special vision and/or hearing.
  • Excessive standing and/or walking: 10%
  • All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
