Position performs park maintenance and field level supervision for Mildale Farm facilities including but not limited to boat dock and ramp, restrooms, shelter house, picnic areas, playgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and other outdoor activities. This position assists the assistant park manager in the performance and field level supervision of maintenance duties at Mildale Farm/SW Region that includes-snow removal, mowing, trimming, weeding, trash disposal, cleaning of grounds, bathrooms, and picnic shelters. The position also routinely provides daily direction regular maintenance and repairs on vehicles, tractors, small engines, water line repairs, electrical, carpentry, and other related duties.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Daily supervises, directs, and assists crews in completing assignments at Mildale Farm. Supervises, directs and assists crews in completing assignments in the SW Region, as directed by the SW region manager and assistant manager. Fill in when managers are absent as lead supervisor; Trains new crew members; Help coordinate and help manage over all daily task in SW Region/Mildale Farm; consults with vendors, designers and planners on projects involving grounds, landscaping and maintenance; ensures safety standards are met.
  • Work directly with facilities rentals department, managing a calendar of events at Mildale farm
  • Provide customer service to rental customers at Mildale Farm. Lead staff and develop staff that prioritize customer service.
  • Operates vehicles and powered equipment; completes commercial mowing and snow removal; applies chemicals and spreads fertilizers, herbicides and soil amendments; mulches tree beds, plants trees, and flowers; aerates and seeds landscaping; trims and prunes shrubs and trees; repairs soil erosion; manages turf and chemical applications; helps with prescribed fires in the SW region. 
  • Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; uses a variety of small and large tools and operates a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments including: tractors, trucks, dump trucks, skid steer loader, water trucks, compact rollers, excavator, power boom, boom truck, and snow removal equipment; performs general and routine maintenance of light and medium duty equipment.
  • Verifies request for goods and services against County contracts and funding sources; orders goods or services and follows-up/resolves discrepancies and ensures delivery; ensures appropriate routing and approval of purchase requests; completes and submits paperwork, timesheets and equipment logs.
  • Completes and approves paperwork, helps with timesheets, work orders, and equipment logs using computerized system; follows purchasing card guidelines and completes approval process.
  • Provide on call and weekend rotational support for Mildale Farm and the SW Region

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the supervision and leadership of employees, which includes making employment-related decisions and/or recommendations, and help in evaluating performance.

 

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Position performs park maintenance and field level supervision for Mildale Farm facilities and Big Bull Creek Park including but not limited to restrooms, shelter house, picnic areas, playgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and other outdoor activities. 
  • This position assists the assistant park manager in the performance and field level supervision of maintenance duties at Mildale Farm/SW Region that includes-snow removal, mowing, trimming, weeding, trash disposal, cleaning of grounds, bathrooms, and picnic shelters.
  • The position also routinely provides daily direction regular maintenance and repairs on vehicles, tractors, small engines, water line repairs, electrical, carpentry, and other related duties. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Five years’ experience in parks and recreation with field supervisory experience.

Education/Experience Substitutions:

  •         Experience may be substituted for degree.
  •          Education may be substituted for experience.

  • Sensory abilities, including special vision and/or hearing.    
  • Excessive standing and/or walking: 50 %
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.

  • All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.

  • Travel required 25% local and 5% outside of county.
