Summer Gallery Attendants at the Johnson County Museum play an integral role in ensuring that guests have a positive experience in our facility, and ensuring facility and museum rules are followed, especially during peak summer hours.  We are looking for candidates who are positive, professional, outgoing, and friendly. 

This is a part-time, seasonal position with shifts Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, $16/hr. The position will run from June 1 - August 7.

 

Job Description

  • Fielding questions, comments, and concerns from visitors, making them feel heard and valued.
  • Monitoring all museum galleries to ensure rules are being followed.
  • Monitoring gallery to ensure everything is in order (i.e. picking up trash, ensuring guests are behaving appropriately, not touching artifacts, etc.).
  • Cleaning KidScape at midday and resetting toys/costumes in KidScape throughout the shift to ensure the space stays organized and clean.
  • Faciliating hands-on learning experiences with education collection at select times.
  • Maintaining interactives (resetting and making sure they are in working order).
  • Greeting and provide orientation for KidScape group visits. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs. 
  • Must have good verbal communication skills, and confidence working with the public.  
  • Must be aware and alert to respond to issues in the gallery quickly. 
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. 

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
