- The Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is hiring for a seasonal gate opener for Central Region (Mill Creek Streamway and Shawnee Mission Park) - The gate opener will be responsible for opening up to fourteen gates within Shawnee Mission Park and across Mill Creek Streamway Park System - Must be available for a minimum of 3 hours a day. Monday - Friday. More hours could be available if desired. - This position could also work into a 30hr Seasonal Park Worker after discussion with supervisor. - Total maximum hours 999. - Normal Work Hours: Starting time: 430am M-F  - Salary: $15.00/hr.

- Work under the supervision of the Assistant Technical Director to construct scenic elements and maintain the scene shop. - Work independently and with other scenic crew fabricating and installing scenic units. - Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times. - Operation of power tools and hand tools including; circular, miter, track, panel, reciprocating, and jig saws, drills, impact drivers, pry bars, pliers, measuring devices, etc. - Make repairs and adjustments to set units as needed. - Assist scenic painters as needed.

- Work under the supervision of the Scenic Charge to paint scenic elements to match the Scenic Designs. - Work independently and with other scenic painters to complete assigned projects. - Help maintain paint shop and tools. - Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times. - Use multiple theatrical painting techniques (wood grain, scumbling, blending, etc.) to transform scenic elements. - Perform touch ups on scenic elements that become damaged. - Assist scenic carpenters as needed. Locations in all Northwest Region parks including Kill Creek and Lexington Lake Parks Responsibilities include all aspect of natural resource management in the Northwest Region of JCPRD. Including chemical and mechanical control of noxious weeds, tree removal, prescribed fire, equipment maintenance, and other general natural resource tasks as assigned. Workers may assist with general park maintenance and operations as needed and assigned. May operate equipment such as tractors, loaders, UTVs, ATVs, trucks, and trailers as trained, assigned, and licensed. Pay starts at $15.00hr / 40hrs week up to 990 Hours in season. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest in natural resource management with advanced course work in the field. - Responsible for interacting with all guests for events and rentals. Greeting customers and providing a high level of customer service. - Verify completion of setup, tear down, and cleaning of rental rooms for events, courses, and parties. The position includes a high level of face-to-face contact with the public and requires a high level of customer service skills in an environment that values teamwork and positive partnerships. This position typically works two to three weekends a month for Visitor Services located in the JCPRD Administration Building at the entrance to Shawnee Mission Park. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES - Assist patrons with inquiries regarding park facilities and recreation programs. - Use a multi-line phone system to answer questions about JCPRD programs and services or direct calls to the proper staff. - Sell JCPRD permits and State of Kansas Fishing licenses through specialized software. - Facility reservations. - Distribute Park information. - Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service to patrons.
